A SpaceX capsule carrying four astronauts has arrived safely at the International Space Station

On 17 November, SpaceX’s Dragon capsule docked at the International Space Station (ISS) after launching from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida 27 hours previously. The four-person crew of astronauts, three American and one Japanese, will spend six months on the ISS before being relieved by replacements on another Dragon in April. The station crew of two Russians and one American, who arrived in October 2020, gave the new arrivals a warm hug  – something they probably wouldn’t be able to do on pandemic-inflicted Earth right now. In fact, the Dragon crew named their capsule Resilience to give hope and inspiration during a difficult 2020 for the whole of world (and even their boss Elon Musk had to stay away from the historic launch after tweeting he “most likely” had COVID-19).
