Call for submissions for inspiring new APM research fund

APM has launched a new fund aimed at supporting research that is of practical benefit to the project management profession.

The APM Research Fund has been established to fund small-scale research projects or provide seed funding for larger projects seeking to address key issues that are either directly involved in, or related to, the management of projects, programmes and portfolios.

Set up within the APM research programme, the fund will support members of the project management profession to advance areas of thinking and practice, and will be of particular interest to the academic and research community.

It represents a valuable opportunity to progress project management and further develop an area or issue that could ultimately have a pivotal impact on the profession.

Successful recipients will be awarded up to a maximum of £5,000 towards their research project.

APM chief executive Sara Drake (pictured) stated: "This fund is part of APM’s wider agenda to develop an innovative research programme. Our aim is to help bridge the gap between academic research and practitioner knowledge.

"We will work with members, volunteers, academics and professional bodies to help develop new knowledge. We will make existing research more accessible and useful to project managers.

"And we will start to unpack some of the bigger questions about project management’s contribution to the economy and to corporate success."

The research fund is available to APM members and partners and offers a host of additional benefits to successful applicants including access to potential research participants; promotion and communication channels ranging from publications and journals to events and media activities; and feedback facilitation.

Applications and proposals for this outstanding funding opportunity are open to both individuals (academics, students, volunteers and practitioners) and organisations including APM Specific Interest Groups and Branches.

The closing date for 2016/17 submissions is 10 January 2016.
