Earned value management - best practice.
Pete Mill presented to the East of England branch in February 2006 on earned value management. RAF Wyton, near Huntingdon, played host to over fifty members of the APMs East of England branch. The occasion was an invitation to APMs Earned Value Management Specific Interest Group to provide a seminar on best practice to an audience of project managers and engineers from a variety of backgrounds.
Earned value management proved to be a popular topic and one that reflected the amount of attention and study that this subject has received within the APM and other organisations, such as the Ministry of Defence. The requirement for organisations to work within the processes laid down under earned value within future projects provided the catalyst to make the most of this seminar and professional development opportunity.
Pete Mill from BAE Systems Warton, Lancashire, has been working with BAE Systems for some 14 years and as a project manager for seven. As one of the founder members of the APM EVM SIG, in 2000, he also helped set up the joint MoD/UK Industry steering group.
