Overview of P3M3- 19th Jan 2016

P3M3 Version 3 was released earlier this summer by Axelos to build on the success of the 2008 version in the private and public sectors around the world.

P3M3 was first released in 2005 as a maturity model based on CMMI, but had little take up. The 2008 version had much more success, being adopted by the Australian and New Zealand governments as the method for measuring and managing performance of their department. Pretty much all the UK government departments have now had an assessment done, along with many private sector organisations. The uses of P3M3 are becoming increasingly sophisticated, including being used to validate supply chains. Since 2008 a lot has been learned about the model and the characteristics of organisations, all this has been embedded into the new model.
Geof as an experienced user of the 2008 version was invited to be part the team developing the 2015 upgrade. Geof is a registered consultant and one of the most experienced persons in the use of V3 P3M3.

This session introduced the concepts of maturity models, how they have been successfully adopted by the P3M industry. He explained the new model, what the changes are, why they were needed and what impact they are likely to have.
